Configuring one monitor at a time for thousands of devices isn't practical. Instead configure a set of monitors using a device template, then assign the device template to the appropriate device. You should have a device template for each type of device you manage.
Devices remain linked to the device template after the monitors are assigned. Changing a device template applies the change to all linked devices. You can unlink a monitor from the device template, so that you can customize the configuration of the monitor for a specific device.
Actions
Import - Import a device template from an external XML file.
A device template configuration can be exported from one instance of Network Monitor and imported into another instance of Network Monitor. This enables the community of Network Monitor users to share monitoring solutions.
A Windows performance monitor set or SNMP set can be exported from the VSA and be converted on import into a device template configuration.
Delete - Deletes selected device templates.
New - Adds a new device template.
- Edits the name and description of a device template.
(Click name) - Edits the list of monitors in the device template.
