New Features in VSA (R8) – 30 September 2014

Kaseya Remote Control

Terminal Server Sessions

Users can now remote into a Terminal Server, then select a user session to shadow. Shadow means the administrator shares the console session with the end user and can provide assistance to the user. The Terminal Services role must be enabled on supported Windows servers to use this feature. (RC-41) Remoting into a Terminal Services session using Kaseya Remote Control obeys the group policy for shadowing user sessions set on the Windows server. (RC-656)

Private Remote Control Sessions

A ‘Private Remote Control’ button has been added to QuickView. Private sessions enable administrators to connect to a machine, login and remote control a machine without accessing the console. An end user working on the same machine at the same time cannot see the administrator's private session. (RC-119, PA-783)

Performance Enhancements

The following user experience and performance enhancements have been added to Kaseya Remote Control. (RC-41)

Increased screen pixel clarity, providing a crisp remote experience—easier for the administrator to read small text (Windows).
Reduced per-session CPU and RAM overhead for the administrator, enabled by switching from GDI to DirectX on Windows.
Support for HiDPI Windows endpoints.
Support for viewing multiple monitors that use different resolutions. (RC-20)

User Interface Enhancements

Kaseya Remote Control sessions now display latency indication to help administrators determine the quality of the connection. (RC-106)
When a Kaseya Remote Control session is initiated by a VSA user, the VSA user's name now displays in the Remote Control > Control Machine > Active Admin column for that machine. (CC-1969)
A 'Kaseya Remote Control Logs' option was added to the Live Connect > Agent Data > Agent Logs page. (CC-1962)

Logging Enhancements

Added Kaseya Remote Control logging to the Remote Control log on the Agent > Agent Logs page. (RC-533)
A 'Kaseya Remote Control Log' selection has been added to the Agent > Agent Logs page. (CC-1961)
A 'Kaseya Remote Control Logs' option was added to the Live Connect > Agent Data > Agent Logs page (CC-1962)
A Kaseya Remote Control Logs setting was added to the Agent > Log History page. The existing 'Remote Control Logs' setting was renamed to "Legacy Remote Control Logs". (CC-1963)
Added archiving and purging of Kaseya Remote Control Logs. (CC-1983)
Kaseya Remote Control logging details have been expanded. The complete list of details in an entry now includes: start time, end time, remote host ended the session, admin ended the session, session was ended unexpectedly, length of session, session admin name and the full display name of the remote machine. (RC-99)

Reporting Enhancements

A built-in Kaseya Remote Control Log report part can be used to create Info Center reports and report templates. A built-in Remote Control Log report template incorporates this report part. (APPINF-1404)

Info Center

The following enhancements were added to Info Center:

You can now add images (png, jpg, gif, bmp) to a repository located on the Info Center > Configure & Design > Report Images page. These images are available to use by a new Report Image control. The Report Image Control can be added to a custom report and / or template. The maximum report image file size that you can upload in the Report Image page is 1 MB. (APPINF-1146, APPINF-1427, APPINF-1505)
Added a custom text designer report control. (APPINF-1147)
The Report Logo, Text Area, Horizontal Line and Spacer toolbox controls were added the Header and Footer tabs of the Info Center > 'Cover Page, Header, Footer' page. Previously this page only provided these toolbox controls on the Cover Page tab. APPINF-1149
Added a line chart report part. (APPINF-757)
Added CSV as an output type if you are using SSRS as the renderer. If Kaseya Reporting Services is the renderer, then CSV will not show at this time. (APPINF-935)

Additional Features

Kserver/Agent	VAKF-54	Agent system audits and application audits have been split into two separate tasks, to enable the agent to be used almost immediately after it is first installed, as soon as the system audit completes.
Live Connect	CC-2014	In Live Connect, the 'Status' column was removed from the Agent Data > Kaseya Remote Log and the 'End Time' column renamed the 'Last Active Time' column.

Agent Module	CC-1784	Fixed an issue that caused localhost credentials to fail when tested on the Agent > Configure Agents > Set Credentials page.
Agent Module	CC-1792	Fixed an issue that prevented a message box from displaying when the VSA user attempted to move an agent to a different machine group using the Agent > Change Group page and a duplicate agent name already existed in that target group.
