Endpoint Security (v2.2.0.0) - October 2011

Overview

Endpoint Security 2.2 takes advantage of features in VSA 6.x and provides the following enhancements:

  • Support for multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service
  • License counts are clarified
  • License allocation by organization and machine group
  • Batch processing improved performance
  • Archiving enhanced
  • Alert email clarification
  • Reporting enhancements
  • Conflicting Apps replaced on Install/Remove screen, with Window Security information

Endpoint Security 2.2 requires VSA version 6.2 or greater.

Software-as-a-Service

Endpoint Security can now be deployed in Software as a Service (SaaS) environments.

License Counts

License counts for used, available, full, and partial licenses are now listed and explained in more detail by clicking the License Count button on the Install/Remove and Extend/Return pages. This same license count list also displays on the Dashboard page.

License Allocation by Organization and Group

Endpoint Security licenses can now be allocated by organization and machine group using the System > Server Management > License Manager page.

Archiving Enhancements

Batch processing of events has been re-organized to improve performance. Both processed and unprocessed events are now included in archives. The following tables are affected.

  • AVLOG now contains only unprocessed/unacknowledged events
  • AVLOGHISTORY is new and contains all processed events
  • AVLOGHISTORY is purged and contains only 30 days of events
  • HISTORICAL EVENTS is now used to maintain 1 year worth of threat events directed from AVLOGHISTORY

Device Identified in Alerts and Emails

Alert and email notifications are now formatted to clarify the device generating the alarm.

Reporting Enhancements

Endpoint Security reports now make use of Info Center report center features to provide more flexibility in generating reports. Three new reports are also provided:

  • Configuration
  • Current Threats
  • Historical Threats
